ADPC counterflow air conditioners with R-407c refrigerant
The counterflow wall mount air conditioners, models ADPC, are designed to cool electronic and electrical control rooms or shelters where an underfloor conditioned air system is required. The air conditioner can be mounted on an external wall with the supply opening (conditioner air) at or below floor level.
The ADPC air conditioners are built in cooling capacities of 3, 4, and 5 tons (36,000, 48,000 and 60,000 BTUH) and use R-407C refrigerant to allow operation in hot ambients.

Due to the high heat load in the control rooms, the air conditioners have, as standard, the controls and components required for year round cooling. These include:
  • Low ambient fan cycle switch cycles condenser fan to maintain proper refrigerant pressures in cold weather.
  • Three minute bypass of the low pressure switch allows the compressor to start when outdoor temperatures are below 55ºF (13ºC).

For reliable operation, the each air conditioner has:
  • High pressure and low pressure switches with a lockout relay.
  • Three minute delay on make to prevent destructive compressor short cycling.
  • Dry contacts for remote alarm in the event of a high or low pressure lockout.
  • Two inch (50 mm) pleated filter.
For ease of service,
  • Service access valves.
  • LED's indicate operational status and fault conditions

The ADPC wall mount air conditioners are available with either an economizer or a manual fresh air damper. The factory installed economizer, when outdoor conditions permit, uses outside air to cool the room or shelter. The economizer can dramatically reduce energy and operating costs by limiting the run time of the compressor and outdoor fan motor. The manual damper can pressurize the shelter by bringing in up to 15% of the rated air flow of outside air.

DESERT DUTY PACKAGE (non-economizer units only)
Desert Duty is a package of controls, cabinet modifications and specialty components that allow operation up to 130ºF (54ºC). These include:
  • Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) to maintain efficiency and performance at high temperatures,
  • Sealed condenser fan motor,
  • Modified control box to prevent sand intrusion,
  • No outside air opening or damper,
  • Slotted base pan to improve efficiency, and
  • Condenser fan and compressor access opening thru base pan.

EXTREME DUTY PACKAGE (economizer and manual fresh air damper units)
Extreme Duty is a package of controls, cabinet modifications and specialty components that allow operation up to 130ºF (54ºC) and down to -20ºF (-29ºC) on units with economizers and to 0ºF (-18ºC) on air conditioners with the manual fresh air damper. The Extreme Duty package includes:
  • Suction line accumulator,
  • Thermal Expansion Valve to maintain efficiency and performance,
  • Sealed condenser fan motor
  • Crankcase heater
  • Outdoor thermostat and fan cycle switch. The fan cycle control is standard on all air conditioners & operates based upon the liquid line pressure. The outside thermostat opens whenever the outside temperature is below 50º F (10ºC) and closes when the outside temperature is 50º F (10ºC) or higher. Whenever the temperature is below 50ºF (10ºC), the fan cycle switch is in the circuit; when temperatures are 50º F (10ºC) or higher, the fan cycle switch is not in the circuit. The outdoor thermostat is used with a TXV to prevent excessive cycling or "hunting" of the TXV.
  • Slotted base pan to improve efficiency (manual fresh air damper units only),
  • Condenser fan and compressor access opening thru base pan (manual fresh air damper units only), and
  • Sealed Control box (manual fresh air damper units only).
